Design Challenge

What needs to be accomplished with this web redesign? How do we go about this?

Defining the design challenge was the first part of the web redesign process. I used the IDEO Human Centered Design Toolkit to determine what needs to be improved to make the site better for the user.

Research

What information can be learned?

I gathered flyers, promotional images for events, and looked at recent social media posts. From this information, I was able to assess the Arts Center’s current approach to reaching the community. I then compared it to the promotional work of similar organizations.

Audience & Goals

What are the goals for this website? How can this website best serve the intended audience?

I used sticky notes to define the audience that the Anderson Arts Center intends to reach. I began by researching groups of people in the community to determine specific demographics. After gaining a better understanding of the audience, I was able to cater the website to the needs of the audience. I then listed overarching goals with the audience in mind. From there, I narrowed it down to specific goals.

Interviews

Information gathered from users and the client to better improve the site. Identifying strengths, areas for improvement, and ease of navigation.

I interviewed Addy Smith, the Event and Operations Director at the Anderson County Arts Center, and parents Brian and Kathleen Noblitt. I interviewed them to get their insights on the current Arts Center website.

Solution

What are the crucial functions of the site that need emphasis? How will the final project look and feel?

This is the last step of the web redesign process. I determine what the site will look like and how it will serve the user. I utilize a Style Tile and I determine the CTA (Call to Action) button for the site.
